Henar Ortiz is seen as the rebellious aunt of Queen Letizia's family. An avowed republican and Podemos (We Can) sympathiser, there have been a number of occasions that she has publicly criticised her niece.
But this time it's been a series of tweets that has surprised the social networks. "I absolutely support the right to a referendum. Democracy, respect and peace", she wrote before retweeting a comment from Alberto Garzón saying that "Justice in Spain doesn't exist". But that's not all: she went as far as saying that Spain "embarrasses" her.
The queen's aunt also posted a series of images showing Barcelona jam-packed for the Diada, the Catalan National Day and a tweet from the city's mayor asking for political and democratic responses.
Henar Ortiz has been very active online and hasn't hesitated to make her opinion clear. What will her niece think?
