The singer Valtònyc won't be extradited to Spain either if the Belgian courts follow the position of the advocate general of the Court of Justice of the European Union Michal Bobek, one of the ten who help the court. Spain suffers a new defeat which merely exposes the fragility and partisan nature of the European Arrest Warrants applied to the Catalan independence supporters. Not just that: also, that the sentences applied by Spanish courts collapse as soon as they cross the Pyrenees. Llarena, Marchena and company lose all their battles, those that are important and those that aren't so much, as if it were the most normal thing when the cases reach Europe.
It's not been a good day for Spain's positions, having also seen how the European Parliament has rejected debating including the CDRs on the list of terrorist organisations. The European Parliament's position is normal, although meanwhile we've read some true nonsense in the Madrid press and also in some of the media here in Catalonia; or statements from uninformed politicians who have wanted to add new doctrine on a terrorist organisation, very easy to refute, since it's not carried out any action.
It will be worth noting the source of the new headache for Spanish authorities, none other than the advocates general of the Court of Justice of the European Union. The preliminary question from Oriol Junqueras about his MEP seat has already passed through the hands of Bobek's fellow advocate general Maciej Szpunar, who found in favour of ERC's president, and said that only the Supreme Court's final verdict can prevent him from enjoying his full rights. A statement which has left wide open the doors of the European Parliament to Carles Puigdemont and Toni Comín. Something which, if confirmed in the coming weeks by the court in Luxembourg, will mark a before and an after in the conflict between Spain and Catalonia.
