One of the most popular series of the Catalan public TV channel TV3, Merlí, about a slightly unorthodox philosophy teacher and his students, continues to spread around the world. After its triumph in Latin America thanks to Netflix, which had bought the distribution rights, the Catalan drama has now arrived in Germany.
The Catalan Media Corporation, which owns TV3, has announced that it's reached an agreement to sell the rights to the series, created by Héctor Lozano, to the German media group Beta. This same group has already made an adaptation of Polseres vermelles ("Red bracelets", about a group of teenagers in hospital) to great success. Good proof of this is that they're producing a third season, when the Catalan original only had two.
Merlí already has its third season ready, which will mark the end of the adventures of the peripatetics and their teacher. A final season that promises to be the most “explosive” yet and of which we have already been able to see short clips.
So, Merlí keeps growing worldwide. The series will be dubbed into Basque, after being acquired by the Basque-language channel ETB and it can also be seen in France on Cine + Famillie (Canal Plus França).
