Over the years, Barcelona has particularly picked up traction as a top destination for pizza lovers. Barcelona even has two pizzerias in the prestigious 50 top pizza list, which ranks the best pizzerias in all of Europe (outside of Italy). Given its proximity to Italy, Catalonia has some of Europe’s longest lasting history of pizza. While it’s not clear which pizzeria was Catalonia’s very first, Cap De La Vila in Sitges was founded in 1967, and they have been serving Italian style pizzas for over 50 years since then. In the time that pizza has been popular in Spain, it has continuously evolved and pulled on the influence from popular pizza styles worldwide. Follow this guide to discover some of Barcelona’s best pizzerias, with delicious slices of pizza in several unique styles.

5 best pizza places in Barcelona

From New York Style to hand-tossed to classical Italian style pizza, Barcelona has taken strong influence from some of the world’s most well-known pizzas. With anything from the sauce, dough, crust, cheese, and toppings being almost limitlessly customizable, there’s a pizza out there for everyone. But with so much opportunity for amazing, different choices, it’s hard to pick out the best pizzerias in the city. To find some of the best of Barcelona’s pizza, check out these 5 pizza places for some slices that will crush any cravings.

Ristorante Pizzeria Eden

If you want the full Italian experience, this is the place to go! Ristorante Pizzeria Eden has an extensive Italian menu, with traditional Italian pastas and pizzas alongside an assortment of gourmet pizza. The restaurant also has a wide variety of different sauces (with vegetarian and vegan options) that can be put on any of their pizzas. Pizzeria Eden’s menu has a uniquely diverse set of toppings and cheeses to choose from that is hard to come by. If Italian style pizza is what you’re going for, make sure to get a reservation at Ristorante Pizzeria Eden!

Pizza Pazza

If cheap, quality slices of pizza on the go are what you’re looking for, Pizza Pazza will exceed your expectations. This pizza place has an incredibly friendly environment, and the staff are very helpful with recommendations and quick service. You can get a margherita pizza for under 8 Euros and slices for 2. Customers have a direct view into the kitchen and the restaurant’s pizza oven is in full display, so you can watch the pizza be made from scratch. The process is quick, and it delivers delicious thin-crust pizza. Pizza Pazza maintains a casual environment, making cheap pizzas without sacrificing any of the quality.

Tomasso

Tomasso is one of the rarer pizza places in Barcelona that takes heavy inspiration from American pizza. Tomasso’s menu consists of some of the best New York style pizza in the city. New York style pizza is known for its wide, thin crust pizza, and the better New York styles are pliable enough to fold in half without bending much when held at the crust, a sharp contrast from Napolitan-style pizza. Tomasso captures these aspects well, with large 18-inch pizzas and trendy New York flavours, like spicy burrata. If you’re looking for a crispier pizza with New York’s trendy sweet and spicy flavours, this is the place to go!

Pizza Circus

Pizza Circus combines Italian style with leisure in a way most pizza places do not replicate. Pizza circus has a large bar with many flavours of slices ready to go. The restaurant has many classical Italian flavours but ventures out with toppings popular in Catalan and American styles as well. Pizza Circus’s slices and whole pizzas are also incredibly cheap, with more complex pizzas barely having any upcharge from the plain margherita. On top of the convenience, Pizza Circus also has a great vegan menu. No matter what you’re craving, Pizza Circus is a good bet.

Pizza Bulls

As an American, Pizza Bulls is a personal guilty pleasure I find myself going back to repeatedly. While this restaurant’s name and website imply that they serve Chicago style pizza, it is closer to traditional hand-tossed American pizza. Chicago style pizza is thick-crust deep dish pizza, and it normally has layers of thick sausage and cheese with sauce on top. While Pizza Bulls does not serve authentic Chicago-style, they prepare their pizzas in deep dishes with thick, crispy crust. This style of hand-tossed pizza is like a thicker version of New York style with fluffier dough. This thicker pizza is very filling, and Pizza Bulls delivers it amazingly fast at a great price! If you want to get an insight into some different American styles of pizza, Pizza Bulls is a delicious choice.
