The founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange, has recently been following the Catalan independence movement very closely and today, Catalonia's National Day or Diada, couldn't be any different. This afternoon he posted a message on Twitter saying that "if today if a guide on Oct 1 Europe will birth a new 7.5m nation or civil war".
With this strong message, Assange has given his prediction of the potential consequences of the referendum. He went on to accuse English-language media of hiding it from their front pages.

Earlier, Assange had shared a video of the start of today's rally in Barcelona. Specifically he chose the moment when the demonstrators were just finishing singing the Catalan anthem Els segadors, in a video filmed from a balcony in passeig de Gràcia.
Assange set the context for the video of the proximity of 1st October, the day the independence referendum is planned to be held, despite the attempts by the Spanish government to prevent it and the suspension of the Constitutional Court.
