Football clubs Barça and Girona have joined the general strike in Catalonia to be held on Tuesday 3rd October. After the events of 1st October during the referendum, the country has decided to come to a standstill.
Both Barça and Girona, two of the greatest sporting representatives of Catalonia have fallen in line with this decision. The two will remain shut for the whole day, neither having any kind of activity..

Statement | Girona joins the strike called for tomorrow.
As for Espanyol, the strike will not be complete. The club has announced that it will respect the personal decisions of its workers and will postpone the planned presentations, but its usual training session will go ahead.

Many other clubs, of all sports and levels, have also joined the strike and cancelled their activities for 3rd October.
The Catalan federations join in too
The main Catalan sports federations have also joined the strike. This comes after the general secretary of Sport for the Catalan government, Gerard Figueras, called for all Catalan sport to sign up for the strike.

The FCF [Catalan Football Federation] joins the Country Standstill for Tuesday 3rd October.
Without hesitation, some of the most important sports federations and entities in Catalonia have immediately responded to the called strike.
