Belgian authorities will investigate whether the Spanish security service secretly tracked Carles Puigdemont, according to Politico.
The investigation is being handled by the Belgian intelligence services watchdog, Comité R. It follows a request from the political party New Flemish Alliance (N-VA).
Focus on the GPS tracker
The car the president in exile used in Belgium, a Renault Espace, was reportedly fitted with a GPS tracker which transmitted information on the vehicle's position via two SIM cars bought in Spain.
Belgian police had already announced an investigation into the presence of the GPS tracker in the president's vehicle.
