Catalan businesses are maintaining their good rate of sales abroad. This August, they exported products to the value of 4.8952 billion euros, 8.3% more than the same month last year, according to data from the Spanish Economy and Competitivity Ministry.
In fact, the figures are the best for August since records began. Imports also continue to grow, reaching 6.0398 billion euros worth in the same month, an 8.7% increase on August last year. This leaves a trade deficit of 1.1446 billion, 10.1% more than last August. Exports from Catalonia make up 25.4% of all exports from Spain.
Over the first eight months of the year, Catalan exports have reached 46.604 billion euros, growth of 8.8% over the first eight months of 2016. As for imports in 2017 until the start of September, they total 55.680 billion euros, a 9.2% increase.
