Catalan exports continue their upwards trend, recording 4.2% growth year-on-year this July, according to figures published today by Idescat, the Institute of Statistics of Catalonia. Catalan exports now represent 26% of Spain's total.

The growth is mainly down to exports of intermediate goods, up 11.8%. On the other hand, consumer goods and capital assets are down 5.2% and 0.3% respectively.

In other areas, the 28.1% increase in energy products (oil extraction and refining) and the 12.6% increase in agriculture, livestock, game, forestry and fish stand out. The sharpest decrease was seen by office machines, precision instruments and optics, down 10.3%.

As for imports, they saw year-on-year growth of 16.7%, a result of the increase in imports of all goods: intermediate goods by 17.8%, consumer goods by 16.2% and capital assets by 10.0%.
