Catalan foreign minister, Ernest Maragall, believes that the independence movement "won't have any right asking for international support" until it gets the support of more than 50% of voters.
In an interview with the BBC's HARDTalk programme, he said that "expanding the support base" is one of the current Catalan executive's bojectives. For the minister, this "needs time" and a "stable, credible government".
Maragall also said that pro-independence parties "have to express a joint strategy" before the verdict in the trial of the pro-independence leaders is released, expected early next year, depending on when the trial eventually happens. He believes that "a reaction" to the verdict will be "necessary".
During the interview, he also suggested the option that Catalonia could have the chance to choose between "independence and a full autonomy".
