The calendar of protests to coincide with the trial of pro-independence Catalan leaders is continuing to take shape. After the first details of protests in Catalonia and around Europe, now Catalunya Informació has confirmed that political parties Junts per Catalunya, ERC and CUP and civil society organisations Òmnium and ANC are supporting a protest on 16th February.
This will precede a general strike planned for the 21st, called by union Intersindical SCS. Originally planned for 7th February, it was moved when the trial start date fell back to the 12th. The first plan was supported by ANC and Òmnium, as well as Catalan president Quim Torra and the Council for the Republic.
Also being considered is the possibility of calling five-minute stoppages outside workplaces on the 12th itself. That evening, there will be rallies around Catalonia.
