Are you coming to Barcelona or Catalonia on holiday this summer? The Meteorological Service of Catalonia is reporting the arrival of a mass of very hot air which will affect large parts of the Iberian Peninsula with higher-than-normal temperatures for the time of year until the middle of next week.
Temperatures will start rising this Tuesday through Thursday in some places inland, then from Friday it will become more widespread. The heatwave is to last until Tuesday 7th August at least.
Maximums will peak from the weekend, with forecasts indicating they could reach highs of 30-35ºC (86-95ºF) on the coast and 35-40ºC (95-104ºF) inland. The Meteorological Service has issued a heat warning in response.
Minimum temperatures will also stay high, especially near the coast, where they will be 20-25ºC (68-77ºF). Mid-term forecasts predict that from Wednesday 8th, temperatures will start to drop again towards average for the time of year, though they are expected to remain above normal.
