The Spanish flag that flew over the city hall in Girona, one of Catalonia's four provincial capitals, has been removed after today's declaration of independence, an act which has drawn much comment from residents. Its removal has left the Catalan, Girona and European flags waving over the city.

Translation: #Parliament The city hall of Girona takes down the Spanish flag. The #Republic arrives amidst applause. Waiting for the coming hours.
In Vic meanwhile, a city some 60km west of Girona, their city hall has removed the estelada ("starred" pro-independence flag) they had on the balcony replacing it with a senyera (the normal Catalan flag), as a symbol of support for the Catalan Republic, and a sign of normality. As such, they believe the protest phase to be over. They had already removed their Spanish flag some time earlier.
