China Daily, the English-language newspaper owned by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, has posted a video on Twitter with images of the unrest at Barcelona-El Prat airport earlier this week on the first day of protests against the verdicts in the independence trial.
The video is a compilation of some of the most striking images from Monday of clashes between protesters and police. The newspaper accompanies the video with a simple post reading: "Separatism will not be tolerated in any countries. #HongKong #香港", the last hashtag being the Chinese name for Hong Kong.

Captions in the video briefly summarise the situation leading to the protest, and note that "police used batons to disperse demonstrators and fired rubber bullets". They then repeat the message in their tweet: "Separatism will not be tolerated in any countries". The video concludes with a start message: "Separatists will face punishment. This is an alarm call to all Hong Kong rioters!"
