Codorníu, founded in Catalonia in 1551, is one of the largest producers of cava, a kind of sparkling wine. Today, the board of directors of Unideco, the holding company of the Codorníu Raventós group, has agreed to move its registered office from Barcelona to the autonomous community of La Rioja.
According to a press release from the company this Monday, the decision was taken "given the situation of political and legal uncertainty which Catalonia is submerged in, with the objective of guaranteeing the interests of its workers and clients".
The company clarified that it is maintaining its production structure in operational terms at all its wineries, as well as all its current employees.
