The Finnish consul dismissed under pressure from Mariano Rajoy's Spanish government, Albert Ginjaume, has received written support from the dean and executive of the 94 consuls located in Barcelona.
The Consular Corps of Barcelona, formed by 10 members representing the 94 consuls recognised in the Catalan capital, has expressed its rejection of the decision taken by the Finnish government, according to Spanish newspaper El País.
The dean of the Consular Association in Barcelona and Peruvian ambassador, Franco Lorella Deza, praised Ginjaume in writing, highlighting his "correct, responsible, serious, efficient, serene and impartial" conduct.
The Peruvian diplomat wasn't the only one to use such terms: Lau Andersen, honorary consul for Denmark and responsible for the Corps' institutional relations, wrote his own letter to the Finnish ambassador, also highlighting Ginjaume's work.
