The United States consulate in Barcelona has sent out Christmas greetings with a tweet in Catalan, with tri-lingual touches, accompanied by a video in which the North American diplomats observe the Catalan Christmas custom of making the log poop. The consul, Marcos Mandojana, also takes part in the festive video.

The team from the consulate treat the log more gently than your average Catalan child might, hitting it with twigs that are pencil-thin. On the other hand, they do seem to know the words of the traditional song by heart, and voice them with great festive spirit: "Poop, log, poop hazelnuts and nougat..." The video ends before we see if any gifts have emerged from the Christmas log's rear end, as per the scatological Catalan tradition.
