Daesh (Islamic State) has claimed responsibility for this Thursday's attack on the Rambla in Barcelona. They made the claim via the Amaq agency, their usual communications channel for these claims.

Daesh channels on Whatsapp haven't stopped talking about the attack in Barcelona since just minutes after it happened. They include very aggressive messages in Spanish, like "from now on, our followers will not allow any innocent Spanish dream of safety."
This claim had been anticipated by New York Times correspondent Rukimini Callimachi on her Twitter account.
One of the commentators, she says, "is real close to the bad guys, if not 1 of them, and he's all over Barcelona." Furthermore, some pro-Daesh channels have started to post in Spanish, like Yakeen, "one of their their well-known watering holes", according to Callimachi. They have posted messages are aggressive as "The same as pigs. They're fighting in our land, we're going to kill them in theirs."

5. Updating my last tweet: ETA last killed on Spanish soil in 2009. If this is Islamic terrorism, last time is 2004. (Thanks @RaphaelMinder)
