The pro-democracy movement in Hong Kong has organised an "unprecedented" rally for this Thursday, 24th October, to "show support for self-determination protests in Catalonia".
The "Hong Kong-Catalonia Solidarity Assembly" is scheduled for 7pm local time (UTC +8) in Chater Garden, near Victoria Harbour. Catalonia has seen a week of protests following last Monday's sentencing by Spain's Supreme Court of nine civil and political pro-independence leaders to a total of 100 years in prison for sedition.
To go ahead officially, the plan is waiting for a letter of no-objection from the police, local media report.
