France is now the only country of the EU which would accept to extradite president Carles Puigdemont to Spain, Gonzalo Boye has told Catalan radio station RAC1. Boye, one of Puigdemont's defence counsel, said he has advised his client to remain in the EU, and that he shouldn't go to France, a country which "has distinctive legislative features on collaboration with Spain".
According to Boye, if Puigdemont were to go to France, it would be possible for him to be arrested and extradited, unlike anywhere else in the EU. "We think there's no need to take the risk," he said
Barcelona's French-language radio state, Equinox, reported the remarks and France's special status.
