Gerard Piqué had already said, in an interview last month, that he wanted to buy a football club. He's still playing football professionally for Barça, but seems well on the way to setting up a career as a businessperson for himself once he hangs up his boots.
He's involved in fashion, owns the Kosmos investment group and is behind the changes to the format of tennis's Davis Cup. Now he seems to be looking to return to his origins: the world of football. Rumours had emerged he might buy Catalan club Reus, but today newspaper Diari d'Andorra has reported he is to buy Andorra Football Club.
The paper reports that negotiations between the club and the footballer's company are advanced and that the purchase could be officially announced in the coming days.
The club is a member of the Catalan Football Federation and currently competes in the Primera Catalana, the fifth level of the Spanish league system. Last season they came ninth in the same league.
