Julian Assange is back on the topic of Catalonia after not tweeting about it for days. The activist has given support to Catalan actor Toni Albà, who has to appear before a judge at Spain's National Audience court over some allegedly offensive tweets.
In his tweet, Assange quotes Albà as saying "I will never give up my freedom of speech" and describes the summons as coming after "imitating Spanish Royal family members". Albà has often worked in comedy, including on popular Catalan satire programme Polònia where he regularly imitates Spanish king emeritus Juan Carlos I, among other public figures. The summons (link in Spanish), cites a "series of comments made by Antoni Albà Noya via the social network Twitter on 3rd, 9th, 16th, 19th and 20th October 2017".

Assange stopped talking about the political situation in Catalonia after Ecuador's Foreign ministry asked him to, following alleged Spanish diplomatic pressure. The activist has spent years living in the Ecuadorian embassy in London.
