A high-level meeting between Catalonia and Scotland. Former president Artur Mas has met with first minister Nicola Sturgeon in the Scottish Parliament. In the meeting, which took place this Wednesday, the two politicians were able to exchange opinions over the situations between Catalonia and Spain and between Scotland and the United Kingdom. According to the former president's office, they also spoke of their common wish to remain in Europe.
Mas took advantage of the meeting to thank the Scottish government for their support for Catalonia's right to self-determination. Also in the meeting was Scottish secretary for external affairs.
Today was the second day of Mas's visit to Scotland after yesterday giving a speech at Edinburgh University in which he reviewed the history of the Catalan independence process through to the current day. During the speech, he made a call to Europe to "not tolerate fundamental rights being violated in Spain".
