The mayor of Perpignan, Jean-Marc Pujol, has today received the president of Catalonia, Quim Torra, wearing a yellow loop in solidarity with the political prisoners and exiles. Pujol, who belongs to the centre-right Les Républicains (whose named was changed from l'Union pour un mouvement populaire by Nicolas Sarkozy), thereby showed his position on the current situation in southern Catalonia.

Yellow loops are quite a common sight in Northern Catalonia. Indeed, this summer, a Ciutadans town councillor submitted an official complaint about the headquarters of the Pyrénées-Orientales department displaying yellow loops and a banner in support of the prisoners.
