The mayor of Vilablareix, a village in north-east Catalonia, David Mascort, has spoken out against welcoming this year's Princess of Girona Awards. The royal household announced today that the prize ceremony would be held in the town following the refusal from Girona itself to hold them, arguing that the city's auditorium is undergoing construction work.
No podem acceptar de cap manera que una entitat que representa els qui ens piquen, ens empresonen o ens fan marxar del país vingui a muntar festetes a @Vilablareix_cat . No oblidem!!

Mascort wrote, on Twitter that the town "absolutely cannot accept that a body which represents those who are beating us, imprisoning us and making us leave the country should come to hold some little party". He ends the message saying "We don't forget!".
