PP's spokesperson in the Spanish Congress, Rafael Hernando, is back on the attack against pro-independence parties. Asked about the possibility of Carles Puigdemont becoming a symbolic president, with someone else carrying out the day-to-day role in Catalonia, he replied "but, these people, what leaves are they having with their breakfast? Every day they overdo it with their portions of limeflower tea or theine", after bursting out laughing in front of the journalists.
"The imagination these people have to do stupid things is endless", said Hernando, who described the suggestion as "delirious". As such, the spokesperson called for there to be proposed a "viable candidate" to "reestablish democratic normality" and lift article 155.
"They should get rid of all those political corpses, as their political horizon will lead them to abandoning politics," he said. This comes as Mariano Rajoy's party is planning for a political future not featuring the pro-independence leadership.
