The CDR, the Catalan Committees for Defence of the Republic, have this evening blocked the main routes into Barcelona. Specifically, they've stopped traffic on the avinguda Meridiana at Fabra i Puig, on the avinguda Diagonal at Maria Cristina and on Gran Via near plaça de les Glòries.
At half seven local time, hundreds of people jumped the barriers onto the tarmac to bring the vehicles driving on the roads to a halt.
The road block on Meridiana has been repeated every night since the Supreme Court's sentences were announced. Shortly before the start tonight, groups reported police close to the planned site for the protest. At the same time, over a hundred people blocked Gran Via near 22@, one of the city's hubs for technology and innovation. They later moved to carrer Badajoz as the crowd swelled to over a thousand people.
