The ANC (Catalan National Assembly) will hold demonstrations in front of the Catalan government palace in Barcelona during the trial of the Catalan pro-independence leaders. They will start at 9am each day and end at 9pm, with different local groups taking turns.
The objective is to denounce the "injustice" of the trial, and to put pressure on the Catalan government who it holds responsible for the "current situation". ANC sources have told El Nacional that the demonstrations' slogan will be, in translation, "What are you doing to apply the referendum mandate?".
The assembly has emailed its members to explain its plans. It also asks them to sign up and choose a day and shift to ensure there is always a minimum turnout.
The demonstration is set to start from Monday, after the prisoners are moved to Madrid this Friday, although it could change if the latter date does too. It will always be in plaça Sant Jaume outside the government palace, although the organisation suggests they could move to outside the Parliament on days when it is in session.
This follows on from protests planned to coincide with the prisoners' transfer. Local branches along the route have called members to gather along the roads, without blocking traffic, to "accompany the political prisoners" and "pass on warmth and strength" to them. There is another protest planned for 6.30pm that day in Barcelona.
