The former leader of PSAN (Socialist Party of National Liberation) and member of the pro-Catalan independence left, Josep Guia, has called for voters to elect President Carles Puigdemont in the 21st December election. He argues that "with regards to the world and with regards to Spain" he has to be the most voted for.
"Given that there is no joint list [of all the pro-independence parties] headed by the hunted government, with regards to the world and with regards to Spain, it is necessary, for the good continuation of the struggle, that president Puigdemont be the most voted for. That nobody can say that the same independence supporters have removed his legitimacy," he wrote on Twitter.
Josep Guia, from Valencia, has fought for years for the independence of the Catalan countries, the regions where Catalan is spoken. This includes Catalonia as well as Valencia, the Balearic Islands, Andorra and parts of Aragon and south-western France.
