Magazine programme El programa de Ana Rosa on Spanish channel Telecinco has revealed the contents of a series of messages sent by the Catalan president, Carles Puigdemont, to minister Toni Comín, in which the president apparently writes that "our people have sacrificed us, [or] at least me" and that "the Moncloa's [Spanish government] plan triumphs. I only hope that it's true that thanks to this they can all leave prison. Because otherwise the historical embarrassment will be historic...
Expressing regret that "we're reliving the last days of republican Catalonia", Puigdemont allegedly tells Comín: "I guess you know that this is over. Our people have sacrificed us, at least [they've sacrificed] me. You will be ministers (I hope and wish) but I've now been sacrificed just as Tardà suggested." "Tardà" refers to Joan Tardà, an ERC deputy in the Spanish Congress who this Sunday said that "if president Puigdemont has to be sacrificed, we'll have to sacrifice him" (link in Catalan).
The following messages says that Puigdemont intends to dedicate the rest of his life to "putting these two years in order" and protecting his reputation, adding that "they've hurt me a lot with slander, rumours, lies, which I've endured for a common cause".

Sources close to Comín suggest that there is potential a crime could have been committed photographing the conversations.
