The speaker of the Catalan Parliament, Roger Torrent, has formally convened the debate on investing Carles Puigdemont as president of Catalonia for Tuesday 30th January at 3pm (GMT+1). The announcement comes despite threats from the Spanish government that they would challenge a potential Puigdemont candidacy to Spain's Constitutional Court.
Torrent has signed the decree calling the session this afternoon with a single item on the agenda: "Debate on the program [of] and investiture vote on deputy Carles Puigdemont i Casamajó, candidate proposed to the presidency [of Catalonia]".
