The last time Joaquim Forn gave a press conference was on 31st October 2017, alongside president Carles Puigdemont and six of his fellow Catalan ministers from the Press Club in Brussels. He would then return to Barcelona before travelling to Madrid and the National Audience court in response to a summons. He would be sent straight to jail from court and hasn't been out since. This Wednesday that will have been 559 days ago.
For the first time in all those months, besides his testimony to the trial, Forn will be able to speak publically, not just in writing, and it will be live on El Nacional. The interview will be under the exceptional conditions imposed by his imprisonment, adapting to the rules of Soto del Real prison. It's limited to half an hour long at most, at the time given by the prison, 5pm this Wednesday (UTC+2).
El Nacional was granted authorisation by the Central Electoral Commission just 24 hours before the interview; Forn is standing as Junts per Catalunya's candidate for mayor of Barcelona.
