Ryanair cabin crew have called a strike for 28th September in Spain, Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands, "as well as any countries which want to join". The announcement was made by the unions USO and Sitcpla after a meeting in Brussels. The unions had already announced a European strike for the end of the month, but hadn't yet confirmed the date.
The unions say they've already registered their intention to strike and the business will be called to conciliation talks in the coming days. Sources told Catalan news agency ACN they don't count out pilots joining in with the strike in certain European countries.
On the other hand, the unions are waiting for a new official summons from the general directorate of labour, after one was cancelled for 5th September. The two unions have explained that they're "waiting expectantly to find out what attitude the company will take before Spanish authorities, after the latest accusation that it's the unions that broke off talks".
According to the unions, the company has sent its employees a letter accusing the unions of not wanting to meet to negotiate. They say, however, that in their last meeting with Ryanair representatives, the company "broke all barriers of good faith".
