Spain's BOE (Official State Gazette) has published the Senate's approval of the application of article 155 of the Spanish Constitution and the intervention in Catalan autonomy in a special edition published online this Friday evening.
This formality means that the Spanish cabinet, currently in an extraordinary meeting at the Moncloa Palace (the prime minister's official residence), can adopt the decisions to enact the planned measures via article 155.
At the end of the cabinet meeting, it is expected that prime minister Mariano Rajoy will give a press conference to explain and detail the decisions taken, among which are expected to be the decree or decrees removing the Catalan president, Carles Puigdemont, and the whole Catalan cabinet from office. These decisions will have to be published themselves in turn in the BOE at which point they will enter into effect.
In advance of that, BOE has, this afternoon, published a "Resolution (...) from the Presidency of the Senate, by which is published the Agreement of the Full Session of the Senate, by which are approved the measures required by the [Spanish] government" based on article 155. The resolution includes the modifications to the text introduced during the Senate proceedings.
