In terms of system of government, 75.9% of Catalans would prefer a republic, over 12.3% who support the monarchy, according to the first political opinion survey of the year from the Catalan government's Centre d'Estudis d'Opinió (Centre for Opinion Studies). Support for a monarchy only just beats those who say they don't know what system they would prefer: 9.4%.
Voters for JxCat, ERC, En Comú and CUP are republicans at rates of over 90% in all cases. The only parties whose voters favour the monarchy are Ciudadanos (57.1%) and PP (55.6%), although 33.3% of the latter's supporters would prefer a republic. As for PSOE, 69.8% want a republic whilst 18.6% defend the monarchy.
In fact, according to the survey, the Spanish monarchy is the institution with the least trust from Catalans, behind the banking sector and the Catholic church. Only Cs and PP give the crown passing marks (5.16 and 5.29 respectively). PSOE voters give it a 3.39; from other parties' supporters it doesn't even reach 1 out of 10.
