The jihadist cell suspected of carrying out last week's attack in Catalonia was waiting for the explosives it had prepared to dry. They planned to use them to attack monuments and churches, including the Sagrada Familia, Mohammad Houli Chemlal, injured in the Alcanar explosion has told the Mossos d'Esquadra (Catalan police).
According to legal sources, in his second statement to the Mossos, which he yesterday confirmed to the judge in the Audience Nacional, Spain's high court, he said that the members of the cell told him that the explosives were still not ready because they had to dry.
Once dry, they were going to load them into vans to explode them in different churches. They had talked about putting the Sagrada Familia on this list since it is the best-known monument in the Catalan capital.
