Finland's honorary consul in Catalonia, Albert Ginjaume, is to be sacked on 28th February as a result of pressure from the Spanish foreign ministry on Finnish diplomats. This decision, revealed to El Nacional, has begun to attract reactions; among the first criticisms of the action, communicated on social media, was from a Finnish member of parliament, Mikko Kärnä.
The Finnish parliamentarian for the Centre Party gives the message that, if the information is true, he will take the issue to his country's parliament in Helsinki. The "dinner" to which Mikko Kärnä refers was a meal organised for Catalan consular representatives by the Finnish consul Albert Ginjaume, with the presence as a special guest of Mercè Conesa, the president of the Barcelona provincial administration and mayor of the city of Sant Cugat, on 1st February.
