The head of the Spanish foreign ministry's Global Spain PR unit, Irene Lozano, has responded to statements from Ciudadanos leader Albert Rivera affirming that the governing PSOE party is "allergic to Spain", by proudly revealing that she wears the Spanish flag on her wrist - in the form of a wristband - and it "doesn't give her an allergy".

Recently seen promoting Spain's image abroad, Lozano was back at home as she was interviewed on Spanish TV show La Sexta Noche. The Secretary of State for Global Spain said that she would like to "carry on with Pedro Sánchez's project" and that she considers it "necessary" to push on with the current government plan, which it has not yet been possible to implement.

With regard to Spain's right, the PR unit leader has said that they are "desperate" and are "adopting the most radical and intolerable forms of populism, starting with misinformation and lies which contribute to the poisoning of public debate."

Lozano was also asked about the coincidence that she ghostwrote prime minister Sánchez's new book Manual de resistencia before she received her appointment to the Global Spain role. She answered that the Sánchez's story was "epic", she was properly paid for the job, and any writer would jump at such an opportunity. She also denounced the sexist attitudes of many of her critics.
