Imprisoned Catalan government minister Meritxell Borràs has suffered an accident in the Alcalá Meco jail, and as a consequence has been diagnosed as having a sprained foot, tests have confirmed.
The accident happened when the minister was going down a flight of stairs in the prison. At first it was thought that she had broken ligaments, but tests have confirmed that it is a sprain. Because of the injury, Borràs is required to rest.
Borràs, minister for governance, public administration and housing, has been in the Alcalá Meco prison near Madrid since 2nd November, along with employment minister Dolors Bassa, facing the charges of rebellion, sedition and misuse of public funds brought against the members of the Catalan government, resulting from their participation in the independence process.
