The Catalan educational community has urged its administrators to take legal action against Xavier García Albiol, the leader in Catalonia of Spain's governing Partido Popular. The reason: alleged slander. The Catalan PP leader has claimed that Catalan schools teach students to hate Spain. In response to this, an on-line campaign is underway through change.org to show education managers that large number of teaching professionals have been offended by Albiol's statements. More than 170,000 signatures have been gathered in a very short time.

Translation: It's intolerable that at certain schools children are indoctrinated, being taught to hate Spain - Xavier García Albiol
The teachers regard Albiol's affirmation as a very severe attack on the educational community and say that they cannot allow these lies to be used to attack them with a political motive. The educational community assures that teachers, far beyond questions of ideology, are fundamental in the education of children and in forming future citizens, and for that reason education is based on peace, solidarity and tolerance and never on hatred, rage or violence.
