The Spanish Civil Guard has found 100,000 posters for the upcoming Catalan independence referendum in a printing house in Poblenou in Barcelona. It has confiscated them and removed them from the premises.
The Spanish prime minister, Mariano Rajoy, bragged about the find this afternoon at the meeting of the leadership team of the Catalan branch of his PP party (Popular Party) taking place in Hotel Grand Marina in Barcelona.
The posters, using the imagery of the first TV advert for the referendum, show forking train lines with the slogan "vas néixer amb la capcitat de decidir. Hi renunciaràs?" (You were born with the ability to decide. Will you give it up?). They also have the image of a ballot box and a voting slip saying "1st October Catalonia Self-determination Referendum". According to several police sources, they were found thanks to an anonymous tip-off.
