Spain's economic minister, Luis de Guindos, is not considering the introduction of incentives to encourage the companies that moved their tax addresses out of Catalonia to return "once the situation is normalized" after the elections on 21st December.
The minister said that, in his opinion, "the Catalan economy is attractive" enough so that once "irrational politics" have been eliminated, companies will come back of their own accord. "If the situation in the Catalan economy returns to normal in the overall Spanish and euro zone economies, I am convinced that this will happen", assured de Guindos.
During his speech to the XXII Economic Symposium at s'Agaró, on the Costa Brava, De Guindos defended the application of article 155 and the calling of elections because these actions have made it possible "to turn around" the "contraction" that took place in the Catalan economy in October.
