Barça centre back Gerard Piqué will be the star of the match between Catalonia and Venezuela on March 25th at the Girona FC ground, Montilivi. The Barcelona defender used to an indispensable member of the squad for Spain's national team, but after retiring from La Roja, he is now freed up to play with the Catalan team trained by Gerard López.
In fact, on Wednesday, after Barça's Champions League victory against Lyon he admitted being "very much excited" about pulling on a Catalonia shirt once again. The last time he did so was in 2015, in a Camp Nou duel against Euskadi that Catalonia ended up losing, 0-1.
However, Piqué will not be the only name footballer who will take the field at Montilivi. Girona captain, Àlex Granell, will also be a drawcard for the local crowd, while, according to radio station RAC1, past and present Barça players Xavi Hernández, Cesc Fàbregas, Bojan Kricic and Carles Aleñá, along with Álex Moreno, who plays with Rayo Vallecano, are also on Gerard López's list.
